In the centre of the courtyard is an old reclaimed water fountain and trough which creates a lovely focal point. To the right of the entrance way is an antique wishing well which dates back to the 17th Century and comes from a Convent. The Stable blocks are also built from reclaimed materials, sourced from all over Spain including chestnut beams from a bodega in Pamplona and flagstone flooring from Cadiz. The whole of the courtyard is paved with antique paving stones and forms a beautiful pattern with borders and walkways. There are several tack rooms and a double carport to the side of the house on the left. To the right is the exercise paddock for the Stallions. There are three mature Palm trees in front of the house and several Pine trees in the grounds as well as other mature trees, plants and flowers.
Through the front doors one enters the entrance hall, which is furnished with antique terracotta floor tiles, these continue throughout the whole house. To the right of the main door is the Kitchen. There is another door from this room leading straight out onto the patio. The kitchen has a fireplace, a walnut and pine table and built-in cupboards, a separate utility area to the rear of the kitchen houses the fridge-freezer and washing machine. The tiled area around the work surface is completely unique, the tiles have all been hand-painted with images of the property and the stable blocks. Going back into the hallway you see the stairs ahead of you going up to the first floor landing. Again the materials are all old and reclaimed from various locations around Spain. To the left of the main door is the fabulous Lounge with lots of windows, high-beamed ceilings and a large open fireplace. To the rear of the Lounge is the Dining room and this too has lots of windows to let in the light and create a wonderful warm and cosy atmosphere. The dining room furniture which consists of an antique table and 8 chairs, a sideboard and a dresser, are all included in the sale. There is a small bodega under the stairs which can house several bottles of wine. Going back into the hallway, next to the stairs is the ground floor Bathroom which is also tiled with hand-painted tiles and an old mirror adorns the wall. The property is fully fitted with under floor heating. There are also speaker wires in all of the rooms which allows one to listen to music anywhere in the house. The whole property has also been fitted with the wiring for security cameras. The electrical wiring, porcelain sockets and light switches are all completely new, but have the appearance of the old style in order to maintain the old and authentic look throughout the property.
There are a further set of stairs which have been built in an Arabic style and are pictured above, leading up to the Tower room. This room has great views of the surroundings and measures 4m x 4.5m. There is access from the Master Bedroom to the Terrace overlooking the courtyard. The Terrace measures 7m x 3m and makes a wonderful addition to the Master Bedroom. Some of the walls upstairs have been painted with a range of natural colours which are not actually modern day paints at all, but are the natural pigmentations that were used centuries ago to paint houses.
The land is very impressive, with 290,000sqm of productive olives which on a good year can produce 150,000 kilos of olives and on a bad year around 110,000 kilos. There are in total 6000 olive trees, 4,500 of those being 18 years old and 1,500 of them being 7 years old. There are also another 400 trees on and around the property for shade and ornamental purposes. The whole of the land is classed as riego - or irrigated land and all of the watering system and irrigation pipes have been installed. There is a massive water deposit on the land which holds 500,000 litres of water. Additionally the house is on mains water but in case of any problems the owners have installed another water deposit near the kennels which holds 3000 litres of water and is piped directly into the house, as and when required. The current owners have literally thought of everything and are really sad to be selling this magnificent property. Located only a few minutes along a tarmaced road from the nearest town of Tijola, this is a real credit crunch bargain. The main town of Baza is 28km away. Access to 4 international airports is very good, Granada is 120km, Almeria 110km, Murcia and Malaga are around 150km and the coast is only 90km away.
